Paul Albert Leitner

Paul Albert Leitner writes a photographic travelogue and records the transformations he has experienced throughout his life’s journey. An artist sets forth as a young man on a journey into his self, a sensitive journey, in the manner of Lawrence Sterne’s Sentimental Journey through France and Italy (1768). Leitner’s autobiographical perception of himself is based on his external, physical existence that confronts nature as the mirror of the soul in photography. Albert Leitner has been working for 30 years on a photographic oeuvre that encompasses still life, landscape, and portraits as well as slide-sound-collag
es. This publication was published to accompany the exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien, July – August 2007.
